Fundraising events - WaterAid's mountain challenge
On Saturday 11 June 2005, WaterAid volunteers climbed all but one of the 284 Munros in Scotland and a further 19 mountains over 3000 feet in England, Wales and the Republic of Ireland.
3,109 people took part in the challenge raising £300,000 for WaterAid - which provides safe water and sanitation for the world's poorest people. Women and children in particular will benefit from safe water, sanitation and hygiene education programmes funded from the proceeds of the 2005 challenge.
The 2005 event has brought the total the Munro challenge has raised to more than £1 million.
