Internet fundraising - The Limbless Association's appeal for Iraqi amputees

Prompted by the incredible public response to the desperate situation of 12-year-old Ali Ismail Abbas, who suffered severe burns and lost both his arms and most of his immediate family in the Iraq conflict, the Limbless Association set up a restricted fund to assist those rendered amputees by the Iraq conflict.

The agency Justgiving was engaged to collect the funds online.

The appeal raised more than £52,000 online before Giftaid.

Almost half of the money raised online came in over the first three days of the appeal, following publicity for the site on BBC television.
