Mailed appeals - Sight Savers International

Sight Savers International designed a pack to send to people who had given to the charity before, but where most had not given for three years or more.

Charities traditionally contact past givers with fairly hard hitting mailings, but in this case Sight Savers International took a different approach.

The mailing they sent asked people to think about giving a single gift of £17, which is what the charity calculated it cost them to restore a person’s sight.

The pack included a small cleaning cloth for spectacles, to make the pack more interesting and involving and to remind past supporters of the importance of sight - something we all tend to take for granted.

Nearly 8,000 people responded with a gift.
