Inserts in newspapers - Medical Aid for Palestinians

The first leaflet advertising campaign that MAP ran asked donors to give a monthly donation to provide medical relief to the Israeli-occupied territories. The leaflet was inserted in the pages of the Guardian and Observer newspapers.

The charity felt that a very straightforward approach would be best, especially as the two newspapers often illustrated the plight of the Palestinians in their news pages, so readers would probably already be familiar with the issues.

The leaflet asked for help in a ‘Special Appeal for the Palestinian People’. It listed some stark facts, such as ‘one-third of Palestinian children under five suffer from chronic malnutrition’. The next page highlighted the charity’s solutions and told prospective supporters about the programmes it ran.

The campaign broke even on costs, and, as it attracted new supporters who were giving a gift every month, will generate significant funding for MAP’s work over the next few years.
